SUSTAINABILITY IN RENTAL CARS

Avis Finland strives to assess and reduce its own impact on the environment and climate in all its operations. We recognize our significant role as a provider of mobility services and strive to promote the development of car travel in a lower-emission, needs- and service-based direction.

We identify the most significant environmental impacts of our own operations and favor more environmentally friendly alternatives in our purchases and alternative energy sources in our fleet.

There is a lot of talk about the carbon footprint of transportation. Fortunately, we can also influence it. At Avis, we believe that car rental services play an important role in this, for the following reasons, among others.

• A rental car is used efficiently
  When you buy a car for a need, it is put to efficient use. Just as the most useless thing is a piece of clothing that just sits in the closet, a car that is parked in the yard is also useless. Car rental brings the fleet into efficient use for both companies and individual consumers. It also reduces the total number of cars, as not everyone needs their own car.
   
• Alternative energy forms
  Our fleet includes alternative energy forms, such as hybrids and fully electric cars. These reduce the carbon footprint during use. Car rental can also act as an incentive to replace your own car: with us you can try out for a couple of weeks or months how a fully electric car would fit into your everyday life before you make a purchase decision.
   
• The fleet is new
  On average, our fleet is no more than two years old. So it is always quite new. A new car, on the other hand, has lower fuel consumption and lower emissions thanks to newer technology. This means that emissions per kilometer driven are significantly lower than in older cars.
   
• It all starts with reporting
  For our corporate customers, we offer emissions reporting on car rentals. Our detailed report shows the carbon footprint of the customer's rentals based on actual use: not on any averages, but on the exact car model and the kilometers the customer has driven in the car. This way, we can produce concrete and developable information for our customers' CDPR and other sustainability reports.

We want to stay a step ahead with environmental matters. We use EcoCompass environmental management system. EcoCompass is based both on the respective Nordic environmental management systems and on international standards on environmental management. We are committed to an environmental programm. We have an annually updated environmental program that defines goals and measures to reduce our environmental impact.
